Cat Fancy is the name of a popular North American monthly magazine dedicated to cats, owners of cats, and breeders of cats published by Bowtie Magazines. The first issue was published in January 1951.citation needed Susan Logan has been the editor since July 1998.citation needed Following the closure of the American magazine Cats (not to be confused with the GCCF's magazine of the same name, which is still published and has reverted to its former name Our Cats), Cat Fancy magazine's main rival in North America is Cats and Kittens. Cat Fancy's publishers also offer Dog Fancy for dogs and their owners.
Each issue is dedicated to a certain breed, which is shown on the cover and on a poster inside.
The magazine also has health tips, polls, Editor's notes, stories written by cat owners, cat product information, cat themed fashions, and a cat picture gallery, among other features.
Controversy
The August 2008 issue of Cat Fancy featured a Javanese on the cover and a profile of the breed. The issue was scheduled to be on newsstands from July 2, 2008 until August 12, 2008 when it would be replaced with the September 2008 issue. On the July 22, 2008 episode of CBS’s The Early Show, Susan Logan, current Cat Fancy Editor, announced that the magazine would be pulled from shelves earlier due to ownership conflicts on certain articles and pictures. The issue was removed from newsstands 2 weeks earlier than planned, July 28, 2008, before a September issue could be readied for distribution.citation needed
